How Aqua's stories began

Aqua began life as a couple of pretty balls of wool that caught my eye in a shop (http://www.loopknitting.com), and over the course of a few days he transformed into this;

I found the crochet pattern for him on ravelry (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-snow-dragon), many thanks to Marjorie for giving out the pattern free!

Everyone in our household found him so adorable he took on life of his own. His character developed into a shy, but cheeky little fellow and his favourite game was hiding in a different spot every day to indicate his mood. One thoughtful day he was discovered hiding amongst the chess pieces, one meloncholy day he was staring out of the window watching the clouds drift by. This led us to make up little stories about what he got up to during the day, which in turn led me to begin writing his books.

Aqua gets some substance.

Aqua's first look, not sure if this is how he'll stay, but he thought he'd fly into the world and see what people thought.

I'll have a play around with different colouring techniques to see which works best for our little dragon.

Aqua's Adventures begin...

Aqua The Baby Dragon is a book that I've written, aimed at children of a pre-school age (3-4 years).

It begins a series of books about his adventures in learning about the world and learning how he fits into that world.

I'm starting a blog about Aqua whilst I decide how I'm going to publish them, and make final decisions upon illustrations, as the poor dragon was getting impatient being stuck in a sketch book for months!

I hope he brings as many smiles to children's faces as he's brought to mine. :)
